چکیده
Carbon fibers going through stabilization, carbonization, and graphitization heat-treatment stages will form continuous graphitic layers that are closely packed preferentially aligned along the fiber axis, forming high mechanical stiffness or strength electrical thermal conductivity. The alignment of noncontinuous, powder-like graphene in polymers has been challenging due to low bending modulus a few- even single-layered graphene, which causes aggregations folding behaviors. This research demonstrates leveraging polymer-nanoparticle interactions align nanoplatelets (GNPs) polyacrylonitrile (PAN) matrix. An in-house designed spinning method produces three-layered utilizes interfacial between each layer for layers. composite containing oriented GNPs significantly improves (i.e., 42.3 74.6 GPa) increases conductivity enhancing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) sensing opens up new scalable fabrication multilayered composites.

FABRICATION OF CARBON FIBERS FROM COMMERCIAL WET SPIN POLYACRYLONITRILE FIBERS
Carbon fibers are fabricated from different materials such as special polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fibers, cellulose fibers and pitch. But PAN fibers are recognized as the most widely used precursor for the present-day manufacture of carbon fibers. The process of fabrication carbon fibers from special PAN fibers is composed of two steps including oxidative stabilization at low temperature and carbon...

A theoretical study of diamond/silicon (001) interface structures with and without graphitic interlayers using a density functional based tight–binding molecular dynamics method is presented. The study is motivated by recent progress towards diamond heteroepitaxy on Si (001) using the bias technique. The proposal by Robertson (1995) that an initial graphitic deposit with the graphite planes nor...

Catalytic substrate, which is devoid of expensive noble metals and enzymes for hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂), reduction reactions can be obtained via nitrogen doping of graphite. Here, we report a facile fabrication method for obtaining such nitrogen doped graphitized carbon using polyacrylonitrile (PAN) mats and its use in H₂O₂ sensing. A high degree of graphitization was obtained with a mechanical...
متن کاملMultiwall Carbon Nanotube Reinforcement of Polyacrylonitrile Fibers
Aligning multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) with the direction of load is desirable for maximizing tensile reinforcement in composites. This has been accomplished by spinning composite fibers containing MWNTs[1]. The shear and elongational flow fields inherent to fiber processing cause the MWNTs to align with the fiber axis. Efficient stress transfer from the matrix to the MWNTs is also a cruci...
